Aquarius Plateau Lakes

The Aquarius Plateau is the highest wooded plateau in North America. Elevations range from 10,000 to 11,338 feet above sea level. There are dense stands of sub-alpine spruce along the rim with huge open expanses of alpine tundra throughout the plateau. Many of the lakes on the Aquarius Plateau are nothing more than shallow catch basins for annual snow melt. These small lakes and ponds are numerous but nearly dry by Autumn and as such hold no fish. Only the fishable lakes of the Aquarius Plateau are shown on this page.
